The "coronation" later this month

He is our goddess of love, right?

Second coming of JFK? of FDR?
I'll be ecstatic if he's the second coming of TEDDY Roosevelt (a Republican).

Some Republicans are trying to smear him by hinting that he's THE Antichrist!
We do need to keep perspective and remember that he's certainly not Jesus. On the other hand, after the last 8 years, he could probably stink and it would still be a hundred times better than what we've had!

Republicans assume that their candidates are divinely ordained. Progressive Christians have to remember to keep perspective. Even if/when a politician (as if) is godly or blessed or even anointed by God- they are still merely human beings, part of the temporal realm.

Whether our side is in office, or our opponents, our faith remains in Christ alone.

" Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the LORD our God." ~Psalm 20:7

For some reason, the most vocal Christians among us never mention the Beatitudes. But, often with tears in their eyes, they demand that the Ten Commandments be posted in public buildings. And of course that’s Moses, not Jesus. I haven’t heard one of them demand that the Sermon on the Mount, the Beatitudes, be posted anywhere.
"Blessed are the merciful" in a courtroom? "Blessed are the peacemakers" in the Pentagon? Give me a break! ~Kurt Vonnegut

Republicans don't get it.

"Nixon had asked me why, as the son of immigrants who had been treated so well by Americans, as a man who had been treated like a son and been sent to Harvard by an American capitalist, I had been so ungrateful to the American economic system.
The answer I gave him was not original. Nothing about me has ever been original...
My stolen answer to Nixon was this: '? The Sermon on the Mount, sir.'" ~Kurt Vonnegut

"The most important message of a crucifix, to me anyway, was how unspeakably cruel supposedly sane human beings can be when under orders from a superior authority." ~ Kurt Vonnegut
