Time for a change

James 5

Warning to Rich Oppressors
1Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming upon you. 2Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. 3Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days. 4Look! The wages you failed to pay the workmen who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. 5You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter. 6You have condemned and murdered innocent men, who were not opposing you.

Is this "anti-American?" Is it "Socialism?" Is it "Class warfare?" Maybe, but conservative-Christians are very fond of telling us that we can't pick and choose which parts of the Bible we accept (in an effort to remind us that abortion is wrong and that we should oppose gay marriage) well supply-side, tax cuts for the rich, bail out the banks, Reagan/Bush Republicans, what do you do with passages like THIS? Just ignore it? Pretend that God isn't talking to us? I am not saying that you can't be a Republican and still love Jesus, but I am tired of fellow Christians thinking that you can't be a true Christian and be a Democrat. Why is it okay for Pat Robertson to say that God's punishing America with 9/11 or hurricane Katrina because we're too we tolerate homosexuality and abortion, but it's not okay for Jeremiah Wright to castigate America for denying social , economic, and racial justice? I love America, but when you love a family member and they're abusive or addicted to drugs or alcohol, you don't just go on enabling them, you seek help. America needs to wake up. And American Christians need to wake up too.
